Tarangire, Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro

The complete northern circuit. Each park brings what the others do not have: the baobabs and elephants of Tarangire, the migration and kopjes of the Serengeti, the birds and perched lions of Manyara, and the Ngorongoro crater to finish in style. It is the ideal itinerary for those who do not want to choose, and who leave with the certainty of having seen Tanzania in all its diversity.

Typical program – Timings to be confirmed based on daily flights

Day 1: Zanzibar – Arusha Airport (ARK) – Tarangire National Park – Karatu

Pick-up at your hotel early in the morning (ask your hotel to provide an early breakfast) and transfer to Zanzibar airport for your 8:00 AM flight to Arusha (ARK), arriving at 9:15 AM. You will meet your safari guide and head to Tarangire National Park for your first safari with a picnic lunch. The park consists of natural vegetation mainly made up of acacia forests and giant African baobabs, with vast marshy areas to the south. The river and marshes attract wildlife like a magnet during the dry season in Tanzania. Tarangire National Park is known for hosting some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African national park is also home to three rare animal species: the greater kudu, the fringe-eared oryx, and a few ash-colored starlings. Overnight at Mvuli Lodge or Farm Of Dreams Lodge (more information on accommodations in the lodging section below).

Day 2: Karatu – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive towards Serengeti National Park, which is arguably the most impressive wildlife reserve in the world. You will have the chance to see large herds of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. A picnic will be organized during this long eventful day, which will end with a hearty dinner and a good night’s rest in your luxury tent at Serengeti Queen Camp or Golden Camp.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you will depart for a morning safari in Serengeti National Park. Later, depart for the Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest volcanic caldera in the world and offers fourteen kilometers of isolated natural beauty. The Ngorongoro Crater is surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and its floor, dotted with water points, is home to about 30,000 animals. This eventful day ends with a hearty dinner and a good night’s rest in your luxury tent at Angata Tented Camp or Embalakai Camp.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu

After an early breakfast, descend to the crater floor for a 5-hour safari. You will be able to observe lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, and many birds. After a picnic by the beautiful hippo pool, a steep ascent to the upper exit of the crater. Then a 2-hour drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Mvuli Lodge or Farm Of Dreams Lodge.

Day 5: Karatu – Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha Airport (ARK) – Zanzibar

After a hearty breakfast, half-day safari in Lake Manyara National Park. From the entrance, the lush forests of acacias and mahogany will give you a taste of what lies ahead. The safari will continue until mid-afternoon, with a short break for a picnic. During the safari, you may observe buffalo, giraffes, impalas, baboons, and blue monkeys. The tree-climbing lions are another spectacle of Lake Manyara National Park, but spotting them is a matter of luck. In the right season, you may see the shore tinted pink with millions of flamingos gathering there. In the mid-afternoon, return to Arusha where you will take your flight to Zanzibar, and return by taxi to your hotel.

What is included: Taxi between your hotel and the airport; flight tickets, five days of safari with an English-speaking guide in a private jeep equipped with wifi, four nights in a lodge, all meals.
