Between relaxation and discovery, this is the perfect opportunity to create unforgettable memories.
Climb aboard a comfortably furnished dhow (traditional sailing boat) for a unique experience combining pleasure and responsible tourism: your visit directly contributes to the restoration of Zanzibar’s coral reefs, with £2 donated to local projects to preserve the beauty and richness of the Indian Ocean.
On the agenda: two hours of sailing in the turquoise waters of Paje, punctuated by an unforgettable snorkelling session in the heart of the coral reefs.
Set off today to discover Minai Bay. After breakfast, we’ll take you to Fumba Village, south-west of Zanzibar, where you’ll board a traditional dhow with other travellers (capacity: 15 people) to discover the extraordinary conservation area surrounding Minai Bay. A private boat option is available.
You can swim between the pristine white sandbanks, visit the islets and snorkel in the coral reefs. When the tide is high, you can also explore the natural lagoon surrounding the islet of Kwale and swim in this fabulous setting.
Take a full-day boat trip around the south of the island.
On the program:
Off to Kizimkazi, a small village at the southern tip of the island. We’ll take you out to sea in a small motorboat to see the wild dolphins that come to disturb the surface of the Kizimkazi channel. With a mask and snorkel, you can swim alongside them if you’re lucky – they’re very curious and attentive to newcomers! Note that the Kizimkazi dolphin is a wild species, but it is fairly easy to find and observe them, as the local fishermen know their habits well. However, we cannot guarantee that they will be there when you go out. We will leave early in the morning to have a better chance of finding them and to make it easier to observe them at dawn.
Discover the unspoilt island of Tumbatu, a gem still untouched by mass tourism. Accessible only by boat, it invites you to explore its exceptional seabed during unforgettable snorkelling sessions in crystal-clear waters.
On board, our crew will prepare a lunch featuring local flavours: grilled seafood, vegetable curry, coconut rice, guacamole, salad, chapati and chocolate bananas. A truly convivial moment to share at sea.
At low tide, let yourself be seduced by a temporary beach with turquoise waters, perfect for relaxation. The day ends gently as you sail, fresh coconut in hand, while the sun sets on the horizon.
Set sail from Kendwa for a leisurely cruise along the coast, heading for Mnemba Lagoon. Enjoy swimming, snorkelling and relaxing in the sun.
At lunchtime, enjoy a delicious barbecue prepared on the boat: grilled seafood, vegetable curry, coconut rice, chapati, salad, homemade guacamole, roasted bananas with chocolate… a veritable feast of local flavours.
Throughout the day, enjoy fresh coconuts, tropical fruits and sweet snacks before weighing anchor for the return trip at sunset.
Head to the waters off the north-east of the island to snorkel in the Mnemba Island reef, where the corals and clear waters are teeming with angelfish and other tropical species. If the tide allows, stop on a beautiful sandbank to enjoy some fruit and admire the turquoise water.
Excursions on traditional dhows or private boats allow you to explore marine areas rich in biodiversity. On the agenda: snorkeling above the coral reefs, dolphin watching, stops on sandbanks, swimming in turquoise waters, and sometimes a barbecue of freshly caught seafood. Boat trips are among the most popular activities for combining adventure, relaxation, and discovering marine life. They offer a complete ocean experience, between exploration and moments of stillness.
