Set sail from Stone Town on a unique excursion to discover Chumbe Island, a protected marine and forest conservation reserve. Only 18 visitors per day are allowed. A short boat ride will take you to this true nature sanctuary.

On the agenda: snorkelling above one of the best-preserved coral reefs on the East African coast, followed by a guided walk through the coral forest, baobab trees and mangrove cave, while admiring the endemic flora and fauna. You can also climb up to the 1904 lighthouse to enjoy a panoramic view of the island and the ocean.

A lunch featuring local flavours will be served on site.

What’s included: Return taxi transfer from your hotel, taxes, boat crossings, snorkelling equipment, meals, English-speaking guide.

What to bring: Hat, sunglasses, towel, swimsuit, sun cream, water shoes, anti-emetics if seasick and cash for any purchases or tips.

Tips: Even though they are well maintained, the snorkels provided are used every day. For your comfort, we recommend that you bring your own. If you are leaving early in the morning, ask your hotel for an early breakfast.
