The tour takes in the heart of the local plantations, to smell and taste various varieties of spices and tropical fruits (pineapple, green banana, coconut water, dourian, watermelon, etc.). The island is also home to many exotic spices such as cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, turmeric, vanilla and nutmeg. Here, you’ll discover a wide range of flavours, some of which you’ve probably never tasted before.
Historical tour of the city
Between flavors, scents and history, the walking tour allows you to immerse yourself in the heart of the city and in Zanzibar culture: stroll through the narrow streets of sand and stone (some of which are over 200 years old), where many architectural inspirations blend together, as evidenced by these ancient residences adorned with carved wooden Arab or Indian doors. You’ll visit the town’s main market, where the island’s tropical fruits, vegetables, spices and fresh fish mingle on the stalls. You’ll also discover Christ’s Anglican Church built by Bishop Steers in 1873 on the site where slaves were once auctioned…
Other visits on the program:
Opt for an authentic immersion in the culture and traditions of the Maasai people. This place is a reconstruction of a living Maasai village, allowing visitors to discover the Maasai way of life through interactive and educational activities.
During the visit, you will be welcomed by members of the Maasai community who will share their history, customs, and daily life with you. You will have the opportunity to explore their traditional earthen dwellings, watch fire-making demonstrations without matches, and try your hand at traditional archery. Sessions of traditional songs and dances are also offered, providing a vibrant glimpse into their cultural heritage.
These cultural experiences are moments to share and savor, timeless interludes where you absorb the stories of the locals, the aromas of spices wafting through the air, and the songs echoing around a corner or in a bustling market. Every encounter, every observed everyday gesture becomes a subtle emotion, a trace left in the traveler’s memory.
You don’t just visit places; you feel an atmosphere: the warmth of smiles, the gentleness of exchanges, the richness of traditions passed down with pride. These simple, sometimes fleeting moments compose the soul of the journey and weave deep memories, made of colors, rhythms, and light. Fragments of Zanzibar that continue to resonate long after you return.
